One PUI in Mandaluyong City dies

By Jhon Aldrin Casinas

Another person under investigation (PUI) for coronavirus disease 2019 in Mandaluyong City has died, the local government disclosed.

In its latest tally posted on Facebook, Mandaluyong now has three fatalities, with two confirmed deaths for coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19).

It was not immediately clear what caused the death of the PUI nor if the PUI was tested for the disease.

As of noon of March 26, the city government reported 31 confirmed cases COVID-19 in the city, with most of the cases — eight — recorded in Barangay Highway Hills.

Meanwhile, 42 persons under monitoring (PUMs) and nine PUIs have been cleared by health officials, while eight people were already discharged.

At this time, Mandaluyong currently has 108 PUIs and 388 PUMs.

The city government assured that PUMs and PUI were being closely monitored and undergoing a strict quarantine to ensure the safety of other people.

“Our PUMs and PUIs have continuously received food assistance from the local government while undergoing home quarantine,” the City Public Information Office said.

It noted that that high number of PUMs was due to their “intensified contact tracing” conducted by the City Health Office, in cooperation with the Department of Health.

To prevent the spread of the disease, the city government has conducted sanitation and disinfection around the city. It has also implemented a curfew starting 8 p.m. until 5 a.m. the next day.

Moreover, the local government has begun distributing grocery packs to its residents. Aside from the usual canned goods, rice, and instant noodles, the city government also distributed fresh vegetables. #
