CAMP COL. RAFAEL C. RODRIGUEZ, Butuan City – Two foreign nationals and five domestic residents were arrested for violating curfew hours and social distancing restriction at a tourist hub in country’s surfing capital of General Luna town in Siargao Island, Surigao del Norte, police reported Friday.

Field units of Caraga Police Regional Office 13 (PRO 13) stepped up its drive against violators of the ongoing quarantine procedures and the imposition of curfew hours in provinces, towns, and cities. It was also implementing social distancing and prevention of group gathering to prevent the spread of the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19), in relation to community quarantine.

The violators, which included a British national and a French national, were arrested allegedly partying in one of the resorts in General Luna, Siargao Islands, Surigao del Norte on Wednesday night.

PRO 13 Regional Director, Brig. Gen. Joselito T. Esquivel, Jr. said the violators were rounded up at 11:55 p.m. on Wednesday after personnel of General Luna Municipal Police Station (MPS) received a report that a group of people were partying at the resort.

Upon arrival, police officers saw a group of local and foreign nationals having a drinking spree and having a party at the said resort.

They were arrested in violation of Local Government Unit – General Luna Executive Order No. 25, Series of 2020 (Observance of Curfew Hours).

“PRO 13 is serious and strict with the imposition of the curfew hours and any individual failing or declining to observe this curfew measure will be dealt appropriately by the police force in Caraga region as regards the unfavorable act committed,” Esquivel said.
