Rubiano strongly endorsed to the City Council an extension in the payment of business and real property taxes in light of the state of calamity to give businessmen some breathing space to recover from the economic doldrums.

“Sa panahon ngayon napakahirap po ang magnegosyo dahil sa community quarantine. Hindi po gumagalaw ang mga produkto. Hindi na rin po makapasok ang mga arawang manggagawa at hindi rin po makalabas ang mga mamimili,” Rubiano said. (At this point it is very hard to do business because of the community quarantine. Workers earning on a daily basis could also no longer report for work including those who are on a home quarantine.)

Rubiano discussed the idea for the extension to City Treasurer Manuel Leycano who immediately studied the endorsement and agreed for the need in giving taxpayers the relief in paying their taxes.

She said that they also agreed to include in the extension the payments for market rentals and amusement tax.

“These measures will help alleviate the plight of all taxpayers in the city,” Rubiano added.

She appealed to the City Council to immediate pass a resolution that payments for real property taxes will be moved from March 31 to April 30 for the first quarter of the year.

Business taxes from April 20 to April 30 for the second quarter of the year while the amusement tax for cinema and theaters only from the 20th day of the following month to April 30 for February and March amusement taxes.
