De Los Santos Medical Center (DLSMC) announced on Tuesday that it will be unable to accommodate coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) patients as it has reached its full capacity.
In a statement posted on its official Facebook page, the Quezon City-based hospital said intensive care units (ICUs) and designated isolation areas are currently at full capacity due to the influx of persons under investigation (PUIs), and persons under monitoring (PUMs).
“It is our responsibility to assure that our front liners, doctors, nurses, and other staff to be protected at all time,” the hospital said.
“It is for this reason that we will be unable to admit additional COVID-19 related cases. More PUI patients will mean requiring more supplies and manpower which we unfortunately do not have at present,” it added.
According to the hospital, emergency room is still available 24/7 for any medical concerns.
The DLSMC urged the public to stay home and practice protective measures in order to halt the spread of the virus.
Meanwhile, The Medical City, Makati Medical Center, and St. Luke’s Medical Center in Quezon City and Taguig City also announced that they have exceeded their capacity to handle COVID-19 cases.
As of Wednesday, there are 636 individuals who tested positive for COVID-19 in the country while the death toll remains at 38.
