A male travelling from Manila Saturday night was promptly listed as a person under investigation (PUI) upon arrival in Lucena City after he showed symptoms of the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19)
In a report on GMA news, the passenger was a 44-year-old resident of Lucena City. He took a Jam Liner in his trip from a Taft Avenue bus station in Manila. He arrived at the Lucena City Grand Terminal at around 10 p.m., it added.
The passenger already had fever and was coughing during the trip, local health authorities said.
It was his sibling who informed local authorities that there was a sick passenger on the bus set to arrive from Manila.
City health officials went to the vehicle to check on the sick passenger, as well as the other passengers onboard the bus.
Metro Manila was placed under a month-long community quarantine on Sunday in an attempt to stop the spread of the COVID-19.
Local authorities began conducting strict measures in travel to and from Metro Manila in the region during the first day of the implementation on March 15.
Transportations were all stopped at checkpoints while passengers had their body temperatures checked by authorities.
As of Sunday, the total number of confirmed COVID-19 cases in the country has risen to 111.
