KIDAPAWAN CITY – Commercial flights will soon be taking off from the Central Mindanao Airport in M’lang, North Cotabato.
The full operations of the 18-year old airport project may commence before the year ends, according to Cotabato Governor Nancy Catamco.
On Thursday, Catamco and lot owners of the properties to be used for the airport signed the Deed of Sale.
Assistant Secretary Jim Melo of the Department of Transportation (DOTr) witnessed the signing.
The payments for the lots came later, according to reports from the Provincial Governor’s Office (PDO).
Close to P6 million were released as payments for for the lots. The funds were taken from the P14 million the DoTr has allotted for purchase of lands, the PGO reports said.
The governor said the Deed of Sale was among the requirements needed to push through with the completion of the project.
To date, the airport already has a passenger terminal and other physical facilities like a runway.
The project started in 2002 during the leadership of then Cotabato Governor and now Mindanao Development Authority (MINDA) Secretary Emmanuel Pinol.
