Coast Guard officials promoted to rear admiral, commodore

Officials of the Philippine Coast Guard were recently promoted to the next higher ranks by President Duterte.

The promotion of nine rear admirals and 12 commodores, as recommended by Transportation Secretary Arthur Tugade, was approved by the President on February 21.

In the transmittal papers sent by the Office of the President to the Department of Transportation, President Duterte gave his go signal to the promotion of Eduardo Fabricante, Oscar Endona, Josel Willian Isaga, Allen Toribio, Artemio Abu, Robert Patrimoni, Rolando Lizon Punzalan, Ronnie Gil Gavan, and Joseph Coyme to Rear Admiral.

The 12 Captains who were promoted to Commodore  included Christopher Villacorte, Giovannie Bergantin, Allan Corpuz, Charlie Rances, Eustacio Nimrod Enriquez, Nelson Torre, Genito Basilio, Rudyard Somera, Hostillo Arturo Cornelio, Edgardo Hernando, Zenmond Duque, and Armando Balilo.

According to the Coast Guard, the officials are scheduled to take their oath before Tugade this week. Their arrival honors and breaking of personal flags ceremony will follow.

Admiral Joel Garcia, Coast Guard commandant, challenged the newly-promoted officials “to prepare for the greater responsibility that comes with their new ranks and to inspire their people in upholding integrity in service at all times.”

Commodore Armand Balilo, on behalf of the newly-promoted officials, thanked the President for the promotion of the Coast Guard key officials and the transportation chief for his support to the organization.
