CAUAYAN CITY, Isabela – Two teenagers were killed after the tricycle (korong-korong) they were riding in collided into a dump truck along a road in Barangay San Placido, Roxas town in Isabela last Monday, February 24.
According to Roxas Municipal Police, the driver was a Grade 10 student while his passenger was also 16 years old. They were both residents of Barangay Rizal in the same town.
Police said the accident occurred when the eastbound tricycle suddenly swerved into the opposite lane with the driver not seeing the incoming dump truck which was driven by Danilo Anog, 49, a resident of Barangay Sinamar, which is also in Roxas town.
Due to the strong impact of the collision, the two teenagers were thrown off the tricycle as they sustained serious head injuries that resulted in their instantaneous death.
Anog immediately surrendered to the Roxas police, and was charged with reckless imprudence resulting in double homicide and damage to property at the prosecution office.
