Salvacion “Sally” Gerona, the mother of Vice President Leni Robredo, died on Saturday night. She was 83.
Robredo confirmed her mother’s death in a post on her personal Facebook page.
”Mommy breathed her last at 7:27 tonight, February 22,” her post read.
Robredo, however, did not give details about the cause of Sally’s death. Her mother was hospitalized for almost a month.
In the same post, she said the wake of her mother will be held at the Eternal Chapels and Mortuary, Eternal Gardens in her hometown of Naga City starting at 4 p.m on Sunday.
The vice president thanked the people who offered prayers and conveyed condolences to the family.
Sally was the wife of late Regional Trial Court Judge Antonio Gerona. She was a teacher at the Universidad De Sta. Isabel, where Robredo finished primary school.
