The Las Pinas City government for the past two consecutive years was again conferred by the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) the Seal of Good Financial Housekeeping (SGFH) for 2019.
According to Mayor Imelda Aguilar, the SGFH recognizes the compliance of the local government unit with accounting and auditing standards, rules and regulations. It is a measure of transparency and accountability in its financial transactions.
Aguilar said that the DILG officially announced that the city passed the Good Financial Housekeeping recently and posted it on its website.
She also said that “the Good Financial Housekeeping certification is a validation of the city government efforts in spending public funds efficiently and wisely.”
The mayor added that because of the wise spending they were able to provide services that are beneficial to the city residents.
To be awarded, the criteria include Unqualified or Qualified Commission on Audit Opinion of the immediately preceding year as well as Compliance with the Full Disclosure Policy of Local Budget and Finances, Bids and Public Offerings such as Annual Budget, Statement of Receipts and Expenditures, Annual Procurement Plan or Procurement List, and Bid Results On Civil Works. Goods and Services and Consulting Services, among others.
The Good Financial Housekeeping falls under financial administration, one of the seven assessment areas for an LGU to be awarded the SGLG or Seal of Good Local Governance.
“Our good performance in financial transparency is a manifestation of our vision of Maunlad na Las Piñas,” Mayor Aguilar said.
