The manner by which Bureau of Corrections (BuCor) Chief Legal Officer Frederic Anthony Santos was killed shows how cheap life has become in the government’s war on drugs, be it stage-managed or perpetrated by drug syndicates, Senator Panfilo M. Lacson said on Thursday.
“It is another big challenge to law enforcement agencies, including the Philippine National Police (PNP) and National Bureau of Investigation (NBI), to get to the bottom of the case,’’ Lacson, a former PNP chief, said.
“Either way, it is on the law enforcement agencies to bear the burden of finding the solution to this impunity,’’ he added.
Santos, who is serving a six-month suspension over his alleged involvement in the anomalous implementation of the Good Conduct Time Allowance (GCTA) of convicted inmates, was gunned down Wednesday afternoon in Muntinlupa city.
