BACOLOD CITY – A confession about the real paternity of their youngest son triggered a man to kill his wife inside their house in Negros Occidental over the weekend.
Slain was Alona Hebong, 30.
Police investigation showed that the victim and her husband Rengie, 33, were having an argument at home last Saturday when she allegedly revealed her affair with another man.
The victim reportedly admitted to her husband that their youngest son was not the latter’s biological child.
Rengie, in a media interview, admitted that he got enraged, prompting him to attack his wife with a bolo. The victim succumbed to multiple hack wounds.
Police said the couple was officially listed as residing in Barangay Igmayaan, Don Salvador Benedicto town, but were actually living in Barangay Minoyan, Murcia town.
Rengie surrendered to the members of the Barangay Peacekeeping Action Team (BPAT) and was later turned over to the police. He said that he regretted the crime he committed.
