Palihang Rogelio Sicat 13 now accepting applications

The University of the Philippines Department of Filipino and Philippine Literature (UP-DFPL) is now accepting applications for the 13th edition of Palihang Rogelio Sicat, to be held at UP Visayas-Miag-ao campus from May 27-31.

Fifteen writers will be chosen for the workshop.

Applicants can send either five poems; two 10 to 15-paged short stories or two children stories (each eight pages or less); four flash fiction (dagli) no longer than two pages each or two short creative non-fiction (malikhaing sanaysay) with 10 pages; or a one-act play, all written in Filipino.

Manuscripts written in other Philippine languages must be accompanied by Filipino translations.

The entries must be encoded in Arial 12, double spaced, and printed on 8 1/2 x 11 sized paper. Applicants must also include a bionote, contact details, and a colored photo of herself or himself.

Documents must be submitted to prs13upvm@yahoo.com on or before April 20.

Palihang Rogelio Sicat, founded by authors Reuel Aguila and Jimmuel Naval, is named after the late novelist and playwright Rogelio Sicat who was best known for his short story “Impeng Negro” and one-act play “Moses, Moses.”
