Metro Manila police chief Maj. Gen. Debold Sinas ordered on Wednesday an in-depth investigation into the killing of two Chinese in Taguig City, a gun attack that also killed a Filipino and wounded two children.
Sinas said police investigators are now coordinating with establishment owners who installed closed-circuit television (CCTV) cameras near the crime scene to get details on the identity of the gunmen.
The fatalities were identified as 42-year old Ninjie Zhang, a certain Kauyu, and their Filipino companion identified as a certain Noel who was reportedly a resident of Cavite.
The two wounded victims are aged five and 12.
Based on the investigation, Sinas said the victims were riding a black sedan-type vehicle (ABP 8026) traveling along Gen. Santos Avenue in Taguig City on Tuesday afternoon. When the vehicle reached the area fronting the Department of Science and Technology (DOST), four gunmen started shooting at the car.
All the victims were hit except for the wife of one of the Chinese, who survived the attack unharmed. The five wounded victims were all taken to a nearby hospital where the three victims were declared dead.
“The suspects fled and are now the subject of our follow-up operations,” Sinas said, adding that they are yet to determine the motive behind the attack.
