Muntinlupa Council Nep Santiago passed away on Jan. 23 due to cardiac arrest, the city government said. He was 48.

“With heavy hearts, we are sad to announce the passing of Councilor Nep Santiago on Thursday at 10:41 PM. Coun. Santiago died due to cardiac arrest at Asian Hospital, Alabang. Our thoughts and prayers go out to Coun. Santiago’s family. Rest in peace, Konsi Nep,” according to an announcement by the Muntinlupa City government.

One of his last official activities was on Jan. 22 when he attended a hearing on the accreditation of cooperatives held by the Muntinlupa City Council’s Committee on Livelihood and Cooperative where he was vice chairman. He also served as chairman on the committee on public information and vice chairman on the committee on education.

Santiago, born on May 30, 1971, ran as councilor under the party of Mayor Jaime Fresnedi in the May 13, 2019 election, topping Muntinlupa’s second district.

Muntinlupa city officials expressed their sympathy and paid tribute to Santiago.

Ruffy Biazon.

Fellow Muntinlupa Councilor Alexson Diaz posted, “Paalam Konsehal Nep Santiago!

Rest in Peace, Konsi Nep!” according to Councilor Raul Corro.
