Operatives of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) reported on Friday the arrest of a Thai woman who yielded P20.4 million worth of suspected shabu which was seized during a buy-bust operation in Barangay Palanan in a hotel in Makati City Thursday.
PDEA Region 4-A team leader Agent Ace Basilio said that the suspect, identified as Konokrat Jampangoen, was nabbed at around 1 p.m. in possession of three kilograms of shabu.
He said that the woman is a suspected member of the international West African drug syndicate.
Basilio said the Jampangoen’s passport indicated that she had frequently traveled to Malaysia from Thailand, and recently traveled to Philippines where she was apprehended.
The suspect is now facing charges for violation of Republic Act 9165 (Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002).
On the same day, authorities arrested another Thai woman identified as Narumon Sukkato in another buy-bust operation in a restaurant in Pasay City.
Anti-narcotics authorities confiscated 200 grams of suspected shabu worth P1.2 million from Sukkato.
