MPD announces road closures, rerouting schemes in Tondo, Pandacan for Sto. Niño feast

The Manila Police District announced road closures and rerouting schemes in line with the celebration of the Feast of the Sto. Niño of Tondo over the weekend.

The Lakbayaw Festival, commonly known as the Sto. Niño de Tondo feast, will be on Saturday. The procession route will be as follows:

Starting from the Church to Ylaya Street, turn right to C.M. Recto Avenue, then, right to Asuncion Street, left to Lakandula Street, right to Wagas Street, right to Moriones Street, left to Juan Luna Street, then, make a U-turn at Pritil, right to Herbosa Street, right to Velasquez Street, left to Ugbo Street, left to F. Varona Street, left to Perla Street, right to Francisco Street, cross Moriones Street to J. Nolasco Street, going back to the Church.

On the same day, the Buling-Buling Festival will be held. The route will start at the patio of the Sto. Niño Parish Church and will move towards Teodoro San Luis Street, Hilom Street, Narciso Street, Jesus Street, Industria Street, Hilom Street, Labores Street, and back to the Church.

Jesus Street/Nagtahan Street, East Zamora Street/Pres. Quirino, Pedro Gil Street/Carreon Street, and Beata Street/Laura Street will be temporarily closed to all traffic starting 11 a.m. on Saturday.

Motorists who intend to use the stretch of Jesus Street coming from Mabini Bridge (Nagtahan) are advised to go straight to Pres. Quirino, on to other points of destination.

All vehicles traversing Zamora Bridge coming from Valenzuela Street (Sta. Mesa area going to Pandacan) should turn left to Carreon Street, make a right to Pedro Gil Street, and go straight to Quirino Avenue, on to other points of destination.

Those who will travel along the stretch of Zamora Street shall go straight to Pres. Quirino on to other points of destination.

Motorists who are coming from Pedro Gil Street who are intending to utilize Carreon Street shall go straight to Quirino Avenue on to other points of destination.

All vehicles intending to utilize Beata Street going to Palumpong and Laura Street must use Zamora Bridge to get to Sta. Mesa on to other points of destination.

The police advised that Carreon Street corner Tomas Claudio Street will be on a stop and go traffic scheme during the procession.
On Sunday, the projected route for the grand procession of the Sto. Niño image in Tondo will be as follows:

Starting from the Sto. Niño Church to Lakandula Street, right to Asuncion Street, right to Morga Street, left to Juan Luna Street, U-turn at Pritil, N. Zamora Street (Sande), right to Herbosa Street, left to Franco Street, right to Coral Street, right to Sta. Maria/Yangco, left to Herbosa Street, left to Velasquez Street, left to Perla Street, right to Sta. Maria Street, cross to J. Nolasco Street, left to L. Cachon Street, and back to the Church.

All jeepneys coming from Caloocan must turn left at Tayuman Street, then right at Dagupan Street, on to other points of destination.

Jeepneys that are coming from Tayuman Street shall go straight to Capulong Road to make a U-turn at Raxabago Street to the point of origin.

Motorists who intend to traverse Moriones Street should go straight to R-10 to other points of destination.

Those who intend to travel along the streets of Lakandula, Asuncion, and Sto. Cristo going to the Divisoria area via Zaragosa Street should turn right to Delpan Street to the point of destination.

All vehicles coming from Infanta Street utilizing the Velasquez-Infanta Bridge going to (C-2) Capulong Road shall go straight to Honorio Lopez Boulevard to other points of destination.

Vehicles coming from Vitas Street shall turn right to Jacinto Street to other points of destination.

The stop and go traffic scheme will be implemented as the procession approaches each intersection and after the tail end of the procession passes.
