LAOAG CITY, Ilocos Norte – Farmers from the nine local government units (LGUs) of Ilocos Norte, have received livestock assistance from the provincial government through the support of the Department of Agriculture (DA), according to Provincial Veterinarian Loida Valenzuela.
Valenzuela said the farmers, who were victims to Typhoon Ompong in 2018, have formally received the assistance last January 9 at the Motorpool Ground, Laoag City.
“A total of 4,530 itik and goats have been distributed to the LGUs of Vintar, Pasuquin, Bacarra, San Nicolas, Paoay, Dingras, Pagudpud, Laoag City, and Batac City; an addition to the initial number of livestock distributed in the previous months,” she said.
“We already completed the distribution of itik; hopefully, it will follow with the distribution of chicken, additional goats and sheep from the DA; and all in all, we are targeting the distribution of 22,000 heads of livestock for the farmers in the province,” she added.
She said the distribution of the livestock assistance to the farmers was initiated by Governor Matthew Marcos with the assistance of Senator Imee Marcos.
