Three members of the People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA) Asia were trapped in Taal Island after trying to rescue abandoned animals there on Wednesday morning.
In an interview with DZMM, Anna Cabrera, executive director of the Philippine Animal Welfare Society (PAWS) said that the three members were left behind in the Island.
“Yung tatlong tao po nang isang organization they are there, na- trap po sa Taal Island mismo. I think they were trying to rescue the animals pero naiwan po sila kung sino man po ‘yung nagdala sa kanila doon,” Cabrera said.
She asked the Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) to help them rescue the three animal rescuers stranded on the Island.
“Ngayon lang po sila tumawag sa akin. Kaninang umaga lang sila nagpunta, tinawagan ako kasi iniwan sila po nung nagdala sa kanila doon. Kinuha po yung mga baka, iniwan po yata sila,” she said.
On Monday, PETA Asia sent their animal rescue team to the evacuation centers to give aide to the evacuated animals.
The organization said on Monday that it is ready to help animals on the island once given the permission to do so.
