Young drug pusher yields half-kilo suspected marijuana in Caloocan
A 20-year-old drug suspect yielded a brick of suspected marijuana worth about P60,000 in a buy-bust operation at Barangay 73, Caloocan City Wednesday evening.
Elements of the Northern Police District Drug Enforcement Unit (NPD-DDEU) arrested Jayson Samson, alias “Boy,” at about 10:35 p.m.
Investigation showed that Samson transacted a drug deal with a poseur buyer, leading to his arrest.
A brick of suspected marijuana weighing 500 grams, the marked money, and some of the suspect’s personal belongings were recovered from him by the police.
The seized pieces of evidence were brought to the NPD Crime Laboratory Office in Caloocan City for laboratory examination.
Samson, who is now in police custody, will be facing charges for the violation of Republic Act No. 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002. (Minka Klaudia Tiangco)
Worker dies by electrocution in newly opened Valenzuela mall
An electrician died by electrocution while he was working at a fast-food restaurant at a newly opened mall in Valenzuela City on Thursday.
Police identified the victim as Edito Demate, 48, a resident of Angeles, Pampanga.
Emmanuel Dela Cruz, branch manager of the fast-food restaurant where the victim had been working, told the police that Demate was repairing the lights at about 2:30 a.m. when the incident happened.
He said heard a loud thud from the ceiling, then, the electricity went off.
Upon checking, Joel Lotino, the victim’s co-worker, saw Demate on the floor unconscious.
Investigation showed that the victim was electrocuted while he was fixing the lights.
They rushed him to Valenzuela Emergency Hospital, but Demate was declared dead-on-arrival at about 3 a.m.
The victim’s body was brought to Sabine Funeral Parlor for an autopsy examination.
