Brunei sultan to visit PH for SEA Games, meet with Duterte

Sultan Hassanal Bolkiah of Brunei is scheduled to pay an official visit to the Philippines this weekend and hold a bilateral meeting with President Rodrigo Duterte on Saturday.

The closed-door meeting between the two leaders will be held in Malacañang.

Duterte and Bolkiah met recently in South Korea. They were among the leaders who attended the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN)-Republic of Korea commemorative summit in Busan early this week.

Bolkiah is also expected to show support for Brunei’s delegation participating in the regional sports tournament during his visit to the country. Some members of the Brunei royal family are part of Brunei’s athlete contingent to the games.

Bolkiah is expected to leave the country on Dec. 1.
