Police are now hunting two hold-up suspects who tried to rob a ride-sharing driver and injured a police personnel with a stray bullet in front of a lotto outlet in Quezon City Tuesday night.
Probers of Quezon City Police District’s Masambong Police Station (PS-2) said the two robbers, on board a motorcycle, are yet to be identified as further investigation is ongoing.
According to victim Virgilo Albar, 50, he was paying his bet at a lotto outlet on the corner of Roosevelt Avenue and Felipe Street in Barangay Paraiso at about 7 p.m. when the armed men appeared.
Albar, a Grab driver, said one of the men suddenly pointed a gun at him and declared the heist.
However, the victim resisted and fought back to the robbers resulting in a scuffle prompting one of them to fire the gun.
The suspects failed to take Albar’s belongings and immediately boarded their getaway motorcycle and escaped.
Meanwhile, the bullet fired by the suspects hit the right leg of 27-year-old Rexcek Caldina, a non-uniformed personnel of the Philippine National Police, who was just passing by the area.
