Capt. Wilfredo Benoman Jr., town police chief, identified the fatality as Roger Hellacone, 19, of Brgy. Sto. Niño, a construction worker and farmworker.

Benoman said Hellacone was inside a computer shop when three unidentified men wearing face masks arrived and forced him to board a silver-gray Strada pick-up truck at Brgy. Tanza around 7:55 p.m. His sister reported the incident to the police.

The next day, Hellacone was found dead in the middle of the sugarcane field at Hacienda Newton, Brgy 13, Victorias City.

Lt. Col. Eduardo Corpuz, city police chief, said the victim’s sister confirmed his identity when she went to the area.

Corpuz said the victim had two gunshot wounds to his forehead and neck, and his hands were tied when found by some residents past 9 a.m.

He also had some bruises on his face, an indication that he was tortured before he was shot to death, the city police chief added.

Police recovered a spent .45 caliber cartridge from the scene.

Corpuz said some residents heard two gunshots but failed to see the assailants because the area where the victim was found is isolated and far from houses.

Meanwhile, Benoman said they are looking into drug-related issues as the possible motive behind the killing, citing their investigation tagging the victim as an alleged courier of a drug group in Manapla town.

The group was said to have been previously operated by alleged drug lord Mark Samson Aguirre, alias Alson Aguirre, who was killed in a drug bust in Manapla in March this year.

Benoman said Hellacone stayed in Manapla before he went to Manila for two months after he allegedly committed an offense involving money in the province. He went home December last year. Police have no leads yet on the identities of the perpetrators.
