Barker shot dead by unidentified gunman in Parañaque

A barker was shot dead by a still unidentified gunman while standing on the sidewalk in Parañaque City before midnight on Friday.

PSMS Joei Romantico identified the victim as Robert Asorina, 35, resident of Barangay BF Homes, Parañaque City. Asorina died on the scene after he sustained multiple gunshot wounds.

Investigation showed that the incident occurred at around 11:30 in the evening along Dr. A. Santos Avenue, Sucat Interchange, beside SDPWH Bldg. Brgy San Antonio, Parañaque City.

After the incident, the suspect casually walked and boarded a motorcycle parked near the building and fled towards Baclaran, bringing with him the gun.

Suspected robber killed by cops in Pasig

A suspected robber was killed in an armed encounter with police in Pasig City early Saturday morning.

Colonel Moises Villaceran Jr., Pasig City Police chief, said the identity of the slain suspect is yet to be determined.

Initial investigation showed that authorities received a report where a 30-year-old woman and her two sons were held at gunpoint by two armed men while walking along Amang Rodriguez Avenue at around 2:20 a.m.

Villaceran said the suspects quickly fled on board a motorcycle after the incident.

However, they were flagged down by a responding policeman along the same street.

The city police chief said one of the suspects pulled out a gun and fired at the cop who then retaliated and hit the driver in the body. The back rider, on the other hand, quickly fled on foot.

The suspect sustained a lone bullet wound in the body, a police report showed. He was rushed to Pasig Doctors Hospital where he was declared dead-on-arrival by the attending physician.

Probers recovered one undetermined caliber of firearm, a fired cartridge case, and the red-colored motorcycle of the suspects.

Villaceran said no valuable item was taken from the victims.

Police are now conducting a follow-up investigation to identify the suspects and for the possible arrest of the at-large suspect. (Jhon Casinas)
