Papal Nuncio Archbishop Gabriele Giordano Caccia will preside over the Holy Mass on November 13, Wednesday, for the official launching of the quincentennial celebration of the arrival of the miraculous image of the Santo Niño in Cebu.
The launching will be held at the Basilica Minore del Sto. Niño de Cebu (BMSN). A conference will precede the mass at 3 p.m. Cebu Archbishop Jose S. Palma, other Church leaders, and Augustinian friars of the Province of Santo Niño de Cebu led by Rev. Fr. Andres D. Rivera Jr., OSA, Prior Provincial, will attend the celebration.
One of the highlights of the event is the unveiling of the official logo of the 500th anniversary of the arrival of the image of Santo Niño de Cebu in 1521. A concert will be held after the mass which will feature the Coro del Sto. Niño de Cebu of BMSN and the Troubadors and Coro Liturgico Agostino of the University of San Agustin – Iloilo. The organizers will also present the 10-point agenda of the historical event and the official website of the quincentennial celebration, which coincides with the Church’s observance of the 500th year of Christianity in the country in 2021.
