A suspect in the murder of a 23-year-old chemical engineering graduate inside a budget hotel in Manila surrendered to police in Laguna on Wednesday.
Police identified the suspect as Dennis Zausa, 35, who voluntarily surrendered to members of the Manila Police District Special Mayor’s Reaction Team (MPD-SMaRT) at a fast-food restaurant in Barangay Tubigan, Biñan, Laguna on November 7.
The suspect’s live-in partner informed Manila Vice Mayor Honey Lacuna-Pangan that Zausa was willing to surrender to authorities.
Zausa was a suspect in the killing of Billy John Ferolin, a chemical engineering graduate of the University of Mindanao inside a budget hotel located along Jhocson Street, Barangay 407 District 4, Sampaloc, Manila at around 8 a.m. on November 1.
Police said they checked-in at the budget hotel at 4:59 a.m. on November 1. Ferolin was later found dead from stab wounds in the chest.
Ferolin was in Manila last July 2019 to attend review classes for his upcoming board exams this last week of November, his family said.
Zausa is now under the custody of the MPD-SMaRT and will be facing appropriate charges.
