DOH Secretary Dr. Francisco Duque III on Thursday expressed his deep sympathy for the families affected by the earthquake, particularly those who have kin who perished or were injured as a result of the earthquake.

Health assistant secretary Abdullah Dumama Jr. said the health secretary’s thoughts are with the teams involved in the Sabayang Patak Kontra Polio.

Dumama said the DOH has teams deployed in different municipalities in Davao del Sur province and in barangays in Davao City, respectively.

Duque said the priority right now is the safety of the DOH teams.

“[Just] immediately resume after safety is established,” Duque said.

For the teams who were not affected by the earthquake, Duque said they may continue the polio vaccination program.

“This is to ensure that all children below 5 years old and below are protected against polio,” Dumama said.
