BFAR releases ‘red tide’ warning in Visayas

Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources released the list of provinces that are positive for paralytic shellfish poison beyond regulatory limit.

BFAR said all types of shellfish and acetes or alamang gathered from the following areas are not safe for human consumption:
Puerto Princesa, Palawan

• Puerto Princesa Bay

Bohol
• Coastal waters of Dauis
• Tagbiliran City

Leyte
• Irong-irong Bay, Western Samar
• San Pedro Bay, Western Samar
• Silanga Bay, Western Samar
• Cancabato Bay, Tacloban City

According to the statement, fish, squids, shrimps, and crabs are safe for human consumption if fresh, washed thoroughly and internal organs removed.
