Iloilo City—Law enforcement agencies across the Western Visayas region are stepping up the campaign to end the communist insurgency.
This is after the Regional Task Force to End the Local Communist Armed Conflict (RTF-ELCAC) signed its implementation plan (Implan) at Camp Delgado, the regional headquarters of the Philippine National Police (PNP) in this city.
“Implan synchronizes all our efforts,” explained Police Brigadier General Rene Pamuspusan, director of Police Regional Office (PRO-6).
Major General Dinoh Dolina, commander of the Philippine Army’s 3rd Infantry Division (3ID), said Implan focuses on areas where New People’s Army (NPA) rebels are wreaking havoc to communities. He particularly mentioned Negros Island and the central part of Panay Island, which consists of the border towns of Capiz, Iloilo and Antique provinces.
Dolina is hopeful that the entire Panay Island can be free from a communist insurgency by next year.
Meanwhile, other officers of law enforcement agencies and partner agencies also signed the Implan. It includes Commodore Allan Victor dela Vega of Philippine Coast Guard (PCG), Atty. Manuel George Jularbal of National Bureau of Investigation (NBI), Ana Burgos of National Commission on Indigenous Peoples (NCIP), and Jaime Cabag Jr. of Philippine Information Agency (PIA).
