Sachet of marijuana intercepted in Valenzuela City jail

A sachet of suspected marijuana was intercepted by a jail officer at the Valenzuela City Bureau of Jail Management and Penology (BJMP) compound at Malinta in Valenzuela City on Sunday.

Investigation showed that Jail Officer (JO) 1 Dave Cruz, who was the duty searcher at the time, found the sachet inside an old pair of shoes.

The pair of shoes was inside a plastic bag containing other items, which included cooked viand, to be given to a person deprived of liberty (PDL) inside the jail.

The police failed to identify both the sender and the receiver of the package since the sender immediately left the compound prior to the package being searched.

Woman nabbed for sneaking a sachet of shabu at the Quezon City Jail

A woman previously jailed for illegal drugs was back behind bars after trying to sneak a sachet of shabu hidden in her underwear at the Quezon City Jail over the weekend.

Quezon City Police District (QCPD) Kamuning Police Station (PS-10) investigators said the suspect, Leslie Hernandez, 47, a resident of Barangay Balon Bato is under their custody.

Upon further investigation, authorities found that Hernandez was recently released at least six years from the detention facility after she was jailed for drug-related charges.

The police report showed that Hernandez went to the Quezon City (QC) Jail at K-3rd Street in Barangay Kamuning around 10:50 a.m., Sunday to visit her live-in partner who was also detained for illegal drugs.

The duty jail officer noticed something unusual in her underwear during a body frisk prompting the authority to subject the suspect to a strip search.

The search resulted in the recovery of a medium-sized plastic sachet of an undetermined quantity of shabu taped in a pantyliner in her underwear which led to her arrest.

Hernandez was brought to the nearby PS-10 where she was detained.

A case in violation of Republic Act 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002 will be filed against her. (Alexandria San Juan)
