The Metropolitan Manila Development Authority urges water firms to avoid road works ahead of the Holiday rush to ease road congestions.
“Kakausapin na po ni [MMDA General Manager] Jojo Garcia ‘yong mga utility companies before the end of this month para pagdating ng kapaskuhan, ‘yong mga isinasagawa nilang digging, kung pwede magkaroon tayo ng moratorium lalo na kung di naman emergency,” said MMDA EDSA traffic chief Bong Nebrija in an interview with DZMM.
(MMDA General Manager Jojo Garcia will talk to utility companies before the end of this month, so before the Christmas season; perhaps there could be a moratorium on their digging, especially if it’s not an emergency.)
Manila Water and Maynilad earlier said that traffic congestion would worsen in Metro Manila if they are compelled to complete sewer projects.
The Supreme Court ordered the companies to finish connecting sewer lines and put up sewage treatment plants in the Metro within 5 years.
