The local government of Manila received a donation of P1. 6 million worth of STEM learning or manipulative toys from the British company Morphun Education on Thursday morning.
According to Manila Mayor Isko Moreno, the 100 sets of Gearphun kits will help boost Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) education in the nation’s capital.
On the other hand, British Ambassador Daniel Pruce said aside from being interactive, the toys are educational as well.
Pruce said the effectiveness of the bricks to stimulate interest in STEM education has been proven around the world.
Manipulative construction educational tools help students engage in creative play while developing fine motion skills, hand-eye coordination, problem-solving and critical thinking schools.
Grolier International Inc. Philippines’ General Manager Brian Maralit said the manipulative toys will be distributed across several Manila public schools and libraries which will help Filipino children ready for jobs in the future.
