Filipino-British cyclist Sunil Kandola finished 14,000-kilometer bike ride to raise funds for a non-government organization (NGO) committed to helping children.

Kandola rode his bike for 116 days, travelling 19 countries in two continents.

“Since returning home, I’ve barely had any time to breathe let alone reflect on the past six months. But the over-riding emotion is gratitude, of which you all contributed,” said Kondola in his Instagram account.

He started his trip on February 22 in Oxford, England and reached Beijing, China on September 3.

Philippine Ambassador to the United Kingdom Antonio Lagdameo welcomed the cyclist after completing a successful journey.

What an absolute honour it was to meet the Ambassador of the Philippines, His Excellency Antonio Lagdameo. We ended up chatting for over an hour about my trip from Oxford to Beijing by bicycle, military service, family and my future at @oxfordsbs and beyond. But most interestingly for me, I learned about his incredibly interesting life in diplomacy and business, which saw him rub shoulders with global leaders past and present, including a certain Richard Nixon. . A wonderfully insightful and genuine man. It was a privilege exchanging stories with him, and an experience I'll remember fondly. ________ #proud #honoured #filipino #bicycletouring #uktochina #onwardsandupwards #oxfordsbs #adventure

“Sunil’s strength and selflessness are truly admirable. He is a shining example of how far a person can go for as long as he or she puts his or her heart into it,” said Lagdameo.
