LIGAO CITY, Albay – The crime rate in the province of Albay for the period January to June this year, has decreased by 15 percent compared to the same period last year.
Captain Dexter Panganiban, public information officer of Albay PPO, said the crime volume recorded last year was 3,080, while the record during the same period this year is only 2,601 in the 3 cities and 15 municipalities of Albay.
Panganiban disclosed that the reduced crime volume can be attributed to the intensified campaigns of the PNP, AFP and other law enforcement agencies against illegal drugs, criminality and terrorism, with the participation of the community.
Panganiban said that the Index Crimes has also dropped by 28 percent, non-index crimes by 13 percent and the so-called “8 focus crimes, by 13 percent. Meanwhile, the crime solution efficiency increased to 3.17 percent.
Police Colonel Wilson Asueta, provincial director of Albay PPO, lauded the efforts of the different enforcement agencies and of the people for their “shared responsibility” to combat criminality in the province.
