One dead, 1 hurt after stabbing incident in Caloocan
A man died while another was injured after their neighbor, who they had an argument with, stabbed them with a bolo at Barangay 176 in Bagong Silang, Caloocan City Monday afternoon.
Police identified the deceased victim as Jun-Jun Recto, 40; and the injured victim as Rodolfo Almonia, 46; both residents of the area.
Arrested was Joseph Elmer Jalober, 47, resident of the area, after he voluntarily surrendered to barangay officials and was later turned over to Caloocan City police at Police Community Precinct-3.
According to a report, the victims were having a drinking spree outside their house when Jalober passed by and scolded them for drinking.
This led to a heated argument which was later pacified when the suspect went inside his house.
Then, the suspect came back armed with a bolo and stabbed Recto on the upper left part of his chest and Almonia on his left arm.
The victims were rushed to Dr. Jose Rodriguez Memorial Hospital for medical treatment, but Recto was declared dead-on-arrival.
Jalober, who is now under police custody, will be facing appropriate charges, police said. (Minka Tiangco)
Vendor gunned down in Malabon
A vendor was shot dead by a man who was reportedly harboring a grudge against him at Barangay Catmon in Malabon City Monday morning.
Police identified the victim as Warlito Del Rosario, 42, resident of the area; and Roberto Tanuan, of legal age, resident of Barangay Tonsuya, Malabon City.
Maj. Aldrin Thompson, assistant chief of police for operations of the Malabon City Police Station, said the police are still investigating what may have started the victim and suspect’s previous fight.
Investigation showed that Del Rosario was sitting beside a store near his house when Tanuan approached him and shot him repeatedly.
The victim was rushed to Ospital ng Malabon but was declared dead on arrival at about 10:45 a.m.
Police recovered six fired cartridge cases, a piece of live ammunition, and two fired bullets from the crime scene.
Follow-up investigation is ongoing for the arrest of the suspect. (Minka Tiangco)
Suspected robber gunned down by cop
One of the robbery suspects was killed in an encounter with a police after they robbed a woman on board a jeepney in Bulacan on Monday night.
The police identified the victim as Josephine Morgado, 40, single and resident of Mapulang Lupa, Pandi, Bulacan.
Investigation showed the victim was going to alight from a jeepney going to Plaridel, Bulacan when two men stopped the jeep and grab the backpack of Morgado at around 7:45 pm on August 12 along St. Lorraine, Brgy, Ilang-ilang, Guiguinto, Bulacan.
PCpl Michael Dela Cruz, a member of Manila Police District Moriones Police Station, was riding a mobile car going to Balagtas, Bulacan when he saw the snatching incident.
The suspects immediately fled going to the direction of St Lorraine, Ilang-ilang, Guiguinto but PCpl Dela Cruz chased them.
Dela Cruz said one of the suspects drew his firearm and shot the police officer which prompted the latter to retaliate.
However, the suspects continued to ran towards Barangay Tabang. Moments after, one of the suspects was shot by Dela Cruz and the other one was able to escape.
The wounded suspect was later identified as Jefferson Sanchez. He was brought Bulacan Provincial Hospital but was declared dead on arrival.
Recovered from the crime scene were the bag of the victim, motorcycle of the suspects and a. 38 caliber revolver.
Follow up investigation is now underway to apprehend the other suspect. (Erma Edera)
18 drug suspects nabbed in QC sting
A total of 18 drug suspects were rounded up by the Quezon City police in its simultaneous anti-illegal drug operations in the City on Monday night and Tuesday morning.
Quezon City Police District’s Batasan Police Station (PS-6) nabbed Rolando Bumagat, 48, Angela Bumagat, 47, and L.A Bumagat, 19, after authorities caught them sniffing shabu inside their house at Kasunduan Street in Brgy. Commonwealth around 5 p.m. Monday.
Police said they received a tip from a concerned citizen about the illegal drug activity of the suspects. Confiscated from them were two sachets of shabu.
Thirty minutes after, personnel of Masambong Police Station (PS-2) arrested Joshua Pariñas, 31, Marvin Alvarez, 22, Kevin Tabut, 29, Rodel Bereso, 32, Blaissey Riobuya, 29, Feddie Manarpies, 42, Jesslie Icbal, 33, Laila Delos Santos, 34, and Lorence Viera, 27, who were also caught in a shabu pot session at Road 7, Barangay Project 6.
Officers were tipped off about the illegal drug activity of the group who yielded nine sachets of shabu and some drug paraphernalia.
Meanwhile, anti-narcotics officers of Kamuning Police Station (PS-10) arrested in Marvin Olano, 20, of Binangonan, Rizal in a buy-bust at Kamias Road near corner Maliksi Street in Barangay Pinyahan around 7 p.m.
Seized from him were at least 400 grams of dried marijuana leaves worth P48,000.
Same operatives also nabbed 51-year-old Gilbert Mananghaya at Congressional Avenue near corner Abra Street in Brgy. Ramon Magsaysay who was was initially arrested for theft.
When frisked, officeres seized a sachet of dried marijuana leaves from him.
In Novaliches, members of Novaliches Police Station (PS-4) Drug Enforcement Unit accosted two male minors inside Queensland Subdivision in Brgy. Nagkaisang Nayon around 12:30 a.m. Tuesday after yielding two wrapped paper containing dried marijuana leaves.
At about 1 a.m., Tuesday, personnel of La Loma Police Station (PS-1) arrested Danilo Aranzanso, 43, and Jackelyn Dacio, 33, along Old Samson Road in Brgy. Apolonio Samson after a concerned citizen reported about their illegal drug activity to the police.
Officers seized two sachets of shabu from the duo.
Arrested suspects are now under police custody and were charged with violation of Republic Act 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.
While the minors were turned over to QC-Social Services and Development Department (SSDD) for proper intervention. (Alexandria San Juan)
Drunk man arrested for allegedly attempting to shoot another man
A man was arrested after allegedly attempting to fire shot at another man in Caloocan City on Tuesday morning.
Police identified him as Mancio Quismundo, 46, resident of Barangay 178, Caloocan City.
Investigation showed that Quismundo, who was intoxicated, suddenly appeared at Alvin Gonzales’ house on Sampalok St. in Camarin 2 and threatened the latter to bomb his computer shop.
Police said that the suspect was then pacified, but immediately returned to Gonzales’ house at around 9:20 a.m. and shot him using a pen gun.
However, police added, the victim managed to run and seek police assistance, leading to the arrest of the suspect.
Recovered from Quismondo was a pen gun and a live ammunition.
Police said that the suspect might face attempted homicide charges and charges for violation of comprehensive law on firearms and ammunition. (Joseph Pedrajas)
