Some 203 members of Mandaluyong City Police and 371 augmentation force from the National Capital Region Training Center were stationed at the shrine and below Ortigas Flyover as early as 5 a.m. on Monday.

Four members of the Philippine National Police-Highway Patrol Group were also deployed to secure the area.

National Capital Region Police Office chief Major General Guillermo Eleazar earlier said that 14,000 police officers were deployed around Metro Manila for the President’s fourth SONA.

The shrine was considered by authorities as one of the locations in Metro Manila where protesters are expected to hold their rally.

As of 3 p.m. on Monday, no protest occurred at the shrine.

Meanwhile, a total of 451 EPD personnel were deployed to augment the security forces around the House of Representatives in Quezon City.

“As we all expect, this event is important to the people and everybody is expected to hear what the President’s statement to the nation will be as he shared with citizens government’s service delivery plans.” EPD director Brig. Gen. Nolasco Bathan said.

The district, meanwhile, will continue its anti-criminality and anti-drugs campaign amid the SONA 2019.
