DAVAO CITY — Three Indonesian fishermen, who were believed to have drifted from Indonesian waters, were rescued along the coastline of Barangay Bobon in Mati City, Davao Oriental last July 17.
Mati City Police Station (MCPS) chief Police Major Bembo Lopez Aying identified the fishermen as boat captain Paulus Baeruma, 50 years old; Batinus Paniat, 54 years old old, a crew; and Pente Laberu, 45 years old, a crew. All are residents of Tobelo in Indonesia.
In a belated report, the Indonesian fishermen had been drifting in the ocean for four days before reaching Mati’s coastline.
The fishermen, Aying said, were said to be on their way home when strong current and wind battered their small vessel.
Aying said the Indonesian fishermen have been turned over to the Bureau of Immigration (BI) 11 office in Davao City on July 18 for proper disposition.
