“Mukhang ganun ang gusto ng mga majority ng mga kasama ko naman… na ako pa rin ang mahalal,” Sotto said in an interview on Dobol B sa News TV.

He added that only the chairmanship of one or two committees were still not clear.

“Medyo buo na, isa-dalawang committees na lang ang hindi malinaw,” he said.

Senate Minority Leader Franklin Drilon earlier said the majority has already agreed that Sotto will retain his post.

Several lawmakers including Senate Majority Leader Juan Miguel Zubiri, Senate President Pro Tempore Ralph Recto, Sen. Panfilo Lacson, Sen. Manny Pacquiao and Sen. Ronald Dela Rosa have also expressed support to Sotto in retaining his post.

Sotto was elected as Senate President in May, 2018, replacing former Senate President Aquilino Pimentel III. At least 13 votes from his colleagues are needed to retain his post.

The Senate will be dominated by 20 majority bloc senators, with four senators comprising the minority bloc on the 18th Congress.
