A Catholic priest has urged Manila Mayor Francisco Isko Moreno Domagoso to also clean up the city government from within.
“Clean ups should not just be limited to streets but also inside the city hall. Remove corruption,” Father Edwin Gariguez, Catholic Bishops Conference of the Philippines (CBCP) – National Secretariat for Social Action (NASSA) Executive Secretary, said in an interview.
“Not just the trash and illegal vendors, a cleanup of the system of governance in Manila is also necessary,” he added.
To note, Domagoso has been going around Manila to rid the streets of illegal vendors and other roadblocks.
His dedication to his work impressed Gariguez.
However, the priest expressed hope that the mayor will sustain what he has been doing until the end of his term.
“I don’t personally know him. But I am impressed with his show of determination and political will,” said Gariguez.
“We just hope it will continue and not just be ningas kugon. Hopefully, it is not just for the show,” added the priest.
