Police Lt. Col. Joyce Birrey, identified the victim as Eduardo Dizon, anchor of Tira Brigada, and a resident of Makilala, Cotabato. He and his wife, Madonna, are anchors of the program which airs from 6 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday to Friday.

Birrey said Dizon was driving his white Mirage on his way home when one of two pistol-welding men onboard a motorcycle pumped bullets into his head and chest along Quezon Boulevard, this city.

Birrey said days before his murder, Dizon reported to police that he had been receiving death threats. In his blotter report, he gave some clues to the investigators as to who could be behind it.

Dizon was vice-mayor of Makilala. He ran as municipal councillor in the May 2019 elections but lost.

Before he joined Brigada FM, he was one of the pioneer disc jockeys of DXOL-FM of the Notre Dame Broadcasting Corporation (NDBC) in Cotabato City when it started its initial broadcast in 1988.

In 1991, when DXDM-FM, also of the NDBC, was established in Kidapawan City, Dizon became the first program director. His wife, Madonna who is Brigada FM Kidapawan’s current station manager, was also among the pioneer DJs of DXDM.
