The Department of Justice (DOJ) is set to replace one of its undersecretaries who got elected as a party-list representative.
Justice Secretary Menardo Guevarra said Bahay party-list Rep. Naealla Bainto-Aguinaldo has left her post at the DOJ following her party-list’s win in the May 13 elections.
“We lost one Usec, so we are getting one replacement,” the Secretary stated.
The DOJ chief disclosed Malacanang has already picked a replacement along with a new DOJ assistant secretary.
“But I will not tell the names until the official appointment papers have been delivered to the DOJ.”
Guevarra noted Aguinaldo’s office at the DOJ was in charge of administration, finance, budget, procurement, and funding.
Recently, Malacanang appointed lawyer Benedicto Malcontento to head the DOJ’s National Prosecution Service (NPS) as prosecutor general.
Malcontento already took his oath of service before Guevarra last Tuesday.
The new prosecutor general is a fellow alumnus of President Rodrigo Duterte at the San Beda College of Law.
He has been in private practice for 25 years and has been the general counsel and corporate secretary of various corporations.
