The new general manager of the Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office (PCSO) did not show up at the agency’s office on Monday, the day she was expected to assume office.
The employees of the PCSO were waiting for Royina Garma, who retired early from the Philippine National Police (PNP) to take the post, during Monday’s flag ceremony at PCSO main office in Mandaluyong City.
The guards of the agency told reporters that they also heard that she will be arriving Monday morning.
Reporters and PCSO employees waited for her, but she did not appear at the flag raising ceremony where she was expected to give a short speech.
PCSO officials said that they were told by Garma after the flag ceremony that she wants to wait for her oath taking before assuming the position given to her by Pres. Duterte.
Her retirement at PNP is effective on July 1, 2019. She was previously the Cebu City police chief.
Garma is replacing Alexander Balutan who, according to a Malacañang official, resigned out of “delicadeza” because of “serious” allegations of corruption.
