A fire broke out at the basement of the National Printing Office (NPO) in Quezon City on Monday night.
Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP)-Quezon City fire marshal, Col. Jaime Ramirez, said the blaze started in the basement of the three-story building of the office located at EDSA corner NPO Road in Barangay Pinyahan at around 9:10 p.m.
First alarm was raised at 9:40 p.m. or at least 30 minutes after it broke out.
The fire lasted for more than an hour before authorities managed to control and put out the fire at 10:24 p.m.
No casualty or injured victims were reported in the incident.
Fire probers are yet to determine the cause of the blaze as well as the estimated worth of damages.
Follow-up investigation is also ongoing while authorities are checking if there are valuable items or documents that were engulfed by the fire.
The NPO is an office under the Presidential Communications Operations Office (PCOO) mandated to print all government forms, and public documents including the Official Gazette of the Republic of the Philippines, as well as printing of election paraphernalia.
