Lawyer Judy Carol Dansal took her oath as the new administrator of the National Food Authority (NFA), replacing Jason Aquino.
The simple oath-taking ceremony was administered by Agriculture Secretary Emmanuel Piñol, also the chairman of the NFA Council, Tuesday. Dansal previously served as NFA deputy administrator for marketing operations.
In a latest major change in the food agency’s leadership, President Duterte has appointed Dansal as member of the NFA Council.
In her appointment paper signed last June 11, Dansal will take over Aquino’s term at the council which started last July 1, 2018, and will end on June 30, 2019.
The NFA Council has also confirmed Dansal’s nomination as the new NFA administrator during a meeting Tuesday, according to NFA officer-in-charge Tomas Escarez.
“Right after the election, nag-take oath siya as administrator sa chairman ng NFA Council, who is the Secretary of Agriculture, Secretary Piñol [Right after the election, she took her oath as administrator before the chairman of the NFA Council, who is Agriculture Secretary Piñol],” he said in a media interview.
Aquino resigned from the NFA top post last year claiming he was tired and could no longer cope with the workings of the agency. His resignation came amid the rice supply and distribution problems in the country.
