Iloilo City—The Department of Health (DOH) is strengthening its campaign for organ donation in the city and province of Iloilo.
John Richard Lapascua, senior health program officer of DOH in the Western Visayas region, said that its campaign to get more organ donors are ongoing at Punta Villa in Arevalo district of this city.
The Philippine National Organ Donation Program will be issuing cards to those who are willing to donate their organs when they pass.
“For those who are willing to donate their organs, please come. Do not hesitate and don’t be afraid to donate your useful internal organs when your time comes,” Lapascua said.
The activity is in line with the commemoration of National Kidney Month, which aims to raise the awareness on causes, symptoms, prevention, and management of kidney diseases.
“We hope that this June as National Kidney Month and National No Smoking Month, we celebrate good health through taking care of our kidneys and quitting cigarettes,” Lapascua added.
“This year, the celebration focuses on kidney donors whether living or deceased and also their families,” Lapascua said.
