A bridge along the Manila North Road in Aparri, Cagayan, has been widened, the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) said.
The Panifuan Bridge was expanded from two lanes to four lanes under a P1- million budget, according to District Engineer Lorna Asuten.
The widening of two more bridges on the Manila North Road — Nagrangtayan and Langagan – is nearing completion, Asuten said.
P47 million will be spent to finish the projects.
According to Asuten, the series of bridge widening projects will complement the road widening effort in the district.
“The widening of these bridges complements our road widening projects. These both aim to provide the traveling public safe and faster mobility and to hasten the delivery of basic goods and services,” she said.
“Known as one of the major and busiest highways linking the rest of Cagayan and Ilocos Region, maintaining, strengthening and widening of bridges along Manila North Road is one of the district office’s focal responsibility,” she added.
