CAMP COL. RAFAEL C. RODRIGUEZ, Butuan City – The Northeastern Mindanao Police Regional Office on Thursday ordered an investigation into the case of a kidnapped tribal chieftain who was later found dead in Jabonga town, Agusan del Norte.
Police regional director Brig. Gen. Gilberto DC Cruz also ordered the Jabonga police and Agusan del Norte Police Provincial Office (PPO) to determine the motive in the abduction and killing of Rodito Lapugan Boklas, the 40-year- old datu or chieftain of the Mamanwa tribe.
Boklas was reportedly kidnapped by five armed men at his mountain farm in Barangay Bangonay, Jabonga, last Monday
The following morning, his body, which bore stab wounds, was found by his wife and her son.
Reports reaching Cruz indicated that the armed men had introduced themselves as members of the New People’s Army (NPA) to Boklas.
