Re-electionist Senator JV Ejercito took to social media on Wednesday to bid the Senate goodbye after losing in the recent midterm elections, saying he will walk away with his “integrity intact.”
“Kunin ko na ang pagkakataon magpasalamat sa Sambayanang Pilipino sa pagkakataon na ako ay nakapaglingkod bilang Senador ng ating bansa,” Ejercito said in a Twitter post.
Ejercito, principal author of the universal health care bill in the Senate, said it was a pleasure serving the nation.
“Will be walking away from the Senate with my integrity intact. Salamat po sa pagmamahal!” he said.
“Kahit po wala na ako, ang iwanan kong batas, ang Universal Healthcare Law ay mapapakinabangan ng lahat ng Pilipino,” he added.
Ejercito ranked 13th in the partial and official tally, with 14, 504, 936 votes.
The Estradas lost in the May 13 midterm polls with his half-brother Jinggoy Estrada ranking 15th place in the senatorial race, former President Joseph Estrada losing in the Manila mayoralty race, Jinggoy’s daughter Janella failing in her bid as San Juan mayor, and the elder Estrada’s nephew in the Laguna gubernatorial race.
