The canvassing of votes for senators and partylists at the Philippine International Convention Center in Pasay City is nearly complete.
On Sunday, Commission on Elections Education and Information Department Assistant Director Frances Arabe reported that the canvassing of votes is now 96.41 percent complete.
“Out of 167 COCs (certificates of canvass) we have already canvassed 161…that is 96.41% already,” she said in a press briefing.
“Today,we were able to canvass Zamboanga del Norte, Lanao del Sur, and persons deprived of liberty…we are waiting for Isabela, Japan, Saudi, US and Nigeria,” added Arabe.
The COC for Zamboanga del Sur already arrived Sunday.
According to Arabe, the six COCs involved 2,324,838 votes.
Asked for the reason behind the delay in the transmission of the results in OAV, she said it had something to do with the defective SD cards.
“SD cards are corrupted and the replacement has to come from our Sta. Rosa warehouse that’s why it took time because they have to ship the replacement SD cards,” said Arabe.
Asked regarding the possibility of the winning senators and partylists being proclaimed on Monday, she said: it is unlikely.
“We will try our best to canvass all the COCs so we can only have one event for the proclamation of senators and partylists,” Arabe said.
