A rare event can be associated with the phrase, “once in a blue moon.” And on Sunday night, May 19, a “blue moon” will grace the night sky.

Although named as “Full Flower Blue Moon,” it will not actually appear as blue.

“As the third full Moon in a season that has four full Moons, this will be a Blue Moon by the older definition,” according to an article by National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA).

The name is also appropriated with the flowers that abundantly bloom in May.

NASA also said the moon “will appear full for about three days around, from Friday evening to Monday morning, making it a full moon weekend.”

In the country, the “Full Flower Blue Moon” can be best viewed at 5:11 a.m. Sunday.

In 2019, there were already several full moon phenomena such as the “Blood Moon”, “Pink Moon”, and the “Super Worm Moon.”
